Petua Untuk Belajar Bahasa Inggeris

• Selalu membaca bahan-bahan Bahasa Inggeris (Reading).
• Selalu bercakap Bahasa Inggeris (Speaking) 
• Selalu mendengar Bahasa Inggeris (Listening)

Ada 5 sebab asas yang menyebabkan pelajar BI mengambil masa beberapa tahun dan masih tidak boleh bertutur BI.

DENGAR APA PAKAR-PAKAR BELAJAR BAHASA INGGERIS KATA 

1. Tertumpu belajar tata-bahasa (grammar).

• Mempelajari tata-bahasa menolong anda mengambil pepereksaan, tetapi akan melambatkan anda  untuk mencuba bertutur BI

2. Tertumpu belajar kata-kata (words) dan kosakata  

    (vocabulary)


  ·  Anda akan tahu 1000 kata-kata, tetapi tidak akan boleh berkomunikasi.


3. Menghabiskan banyak masa mendenger dan membaca, tidak berlatih bertutor

• Anda akan boleh membaca, menulis dan memaham, tetapi tidak akan boleh bertutur

4. Tidak memperlibatkan diri anda sentiasa dalam suasana dan persekitaran dengan BI (baca suratkhabar, tengok TV, berkawan orang dengan asing dll).

    ·     Bertutur BI akan sentiasa menjadi kesukaran,  dengan tidak melibat diri 
        anda dengan BI.

5. Mempelajari bahan yang salah

·    Anda akan menghabiskan banyak masa belajar tanpa mendapat faedah.

Principal/Tutor - Jalal Johar

I am an Engineer and am also an English Teacher. I had studied for 5 years for my Bachelor's degree at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, and have had lived in Australia for 15 years. I have been teaching English to adults, youths, teenagers, teachers, graduates, Master and Phd students, Engineers, Technicians, IT officers, Research officers, officers from MPOB, KWSP, Ministry of Education and the Rural and Federal Territories, and from the Hotels and Tourism industries etc.  for the last 10 years. I love teaching English to them in Malaysia because English is becoming, or already is, a global communication language. I want to give them the opportunity to learn the language so that they can achieve  a brighter and better future.

Methodology (Kaedah)

We use the Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) method to teach our students English. This methodology is used by TEFL, TESOL, ESL and other international institutions like these to teach to students whose English is a second language.

1. ENGAGE - more fun > more learning

This is the point in a teaching sequence where teachers arouse the students' interest, thus involving their emotions, more fun, better learning.When students are amused, stimulated, challenged, they will not only have more 'fun', but also learn better.

Material: music, discussion, stories, anecdote

2. STUDY language work

Study activities are those where the students are asked to focus in on language (or

information) and how it is constructed. The construction of language is the main focus, but

the topics can be words, sounds or verbs tenses.

3. ACTIVATE - use freely and communicatively

This element describes exercises and activities which are designed to get the students

using language as freely and communicatively as they can

• try out real language
• role plays
• advertisement design
• debates, discussion
• story writing

Biasanya pelajar bingung antara dua perkataan ini. Padahal perkataan ini bukannya susah. Selalunya mereka tak ingat sebab mereka tidak mengambil berat tentang kepentingan kedua-dua perkataan ini, terutama ketika menulis.

Punca kejadian ini mungkin disebabkan bunyi sebutan kedua-dua perkataan ini, "it's" dan "its"adalah sama, iaitu saperti: /itzes/ [cuba rujuk di http://www.dictionary.reference.com].

"it's" itu adalah singkatan (contraction) daripada "it is".

Apabila disebut bunyinya /itzes/. Tetapi apabila ditulis mistilah dalam bentuk ini (written form) "it's".

Contoh Kegunaan "it's":

1. "It's Ahmad who wrote that." adalah sama dengan "It is Ahmad who wrote that." (Ahmad yang menulis itu)

2. "It's a beautiful day." adalah sama dengan "It is a beautiful day." (Hari ini sungguh cerah)

3. "It's nonsense." adalah sama dengan "It is nonsense."

"its" pula adalah sama seperti "his" atau "her", iaitu apa yang digelar "possessive pronouns". Tetapi "its" merujuk kepada binatang atau benda, "his" dan "her" merujuk kepada manusia.

Contoh Kegunaan "its":

1. I have a cat. Its fur is long, soft and fluffy.

2. She is a beautiful girl. Her hair is blonde, long and soft.
